Women’s Day – Attention, Affection and Appreciation
Monday 6th March marked the start of Women’s Week activities. The Senior 1s had a fun-packed double lesson session which included an introductory video based on the real reason behind Women’s day.
During a follow up brief discussion the girls talked about what makes a real woman, the necessity of woman empowerment, the meaning of a genuine and sturdy upbringing and the importance of determination in girls and women, amongst many other valuable responses. The girls were also encouraged to think of what kind of gift or gesture they would offer to a special female figure in their lives and the various examples shared were truly heart-warming.
Speaking about gifting women and showing our appreciation, the girls were finally asked to follow a step by step craft making video where they managed to complete a ‘waterfall card’ by the end of the session. They were asked to prepare resources beforehand and they also printed special photos of loved ones or inspirational quotes to stick onto their cards, just to add that personalised touch to their carefully assembled work.
The girls were very appreciative of their experience and left the classroom on a very joyful note. ‘To make a woman happy give her these things: attention, affection and appreciation.’
