Our School
“Let us have no other wish than to work for God’s greater glory. Let us, at the same time, rejoice in work done by others. This twofold sentiment will be true charity.” – Saint Emilie de Vialar

Achievement
“Use your strength to make Him known and loved by your students. Inspire in them a dominant love for the Lord; let that be your aim”. – Saint Emilie de Vialar
Our mission is to embrace all learners and we try to provide a curriculum that allows students to reach their fullest potential.
St Joseph’s has a friendly and positive atmosphere in which the students are encouraged to be responsible for their behaviour, to develop their full potential and contribute to the development of the school. St Joseph’s is a mixed ability school and students are drawn by ballot for entry into kindergarten, and proceed to the senior section. Students are not streamed according to ability but setting is practised in some subjects when teaching loads permit.
The school provides parents with information about their daughter’s academic progress through regular tests and formative assessment, half-yearly and annual reports, and meetings between the parents and staff. If necessary the parents may be called by the Head to discuss their daughter’s progress or the parents may phone for an appointment if they wish, to discuss anything concerning their daughter’s academic and social development.
The role of the family as educator is continually emphasized in communications from the school and this assumes their pre-eminent role as educators.
Religious education is conducted in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church and significant curriculum time is devoted to it. Additionally, students receive religious education through Assemblies, school Masses, Class Masses, Lenten Talks and Celebrations related with church feasts. However, students of all religious denominations are accepted and allowed to follow their conscience.
Assembly
Assembly is held every morning for the whole Senior School community at 7:55am in Our Lady’s Yard. Assembly is an important start to the school day because it unites the school community in prayer; important announcements and reminders about school activities are also communicated to students during Assembly. In case of bad weather, or on occasions when visual projections are prepared, Assembly is held in the school hall. Assembly is prepared by students and their class teacher, following a roster, on two mornings a week.
School Day
There are eight lessons daily from Monday to Friday and the school day is from 7:55am to 1:30pm. The school gates open at 7am and students are supervised during this time. Students meet in the yard every morning and are expected to be in school by 7.55am. Break is after the fourth lesson, that is from 10.40am to 11.00am. There is no tuck shop in school, and students are required to bring a healthy packed lunch from home. All students leave school premises at 1.30pm unless instructions have been given to the Head of School or Assistant Head for students to be picked up later; supervision after school is till 2.30pm.
