Christmas 2022 – Spiritual Celebrations
Our preparation for Christmas took an unusual path this morning. Small groups of students, in turn, were invited to follow a path into separate areas in school to help them reflect on the various distractions that draw them away from the real reason for Christmas, like shopping and consumerism, technology and social media, and peer pressure. The different reflections, animated by Ms Mariella Catania and Ms Christine Debono, helped the girls collect their thoughts before understanding the real meaning of Christmas – the birth of Jesus and the message of hope and love that Christmas brings. Each student was invited to write a message of hope on a special card. The journey continued to the tribune, where Fr Matthew led the small groups in prayer in front of the blessed sacrament.
After break Fr Matthew Pulis celebrated mass in the auditorium, following the traditional liturgy for midnight mass. The school choir, led by Ms Margaret Vella and Ms Kayleigh Schembri, animated the mass beautifully, with students and teachers singing solo too. Cristina Massa’s psalm singing was memorable, and Greta and Mariah Vella were exceptional with their rendition of the traditional Christmas sermon; spontaneous applause filled the auditorium in appreciation of their effort!
Thank you to all the team for making this spiritual morning possible.
