OOBLECK: Corn Flour and Water Experiment
On Thursday 28th November 2019, a group of Senior I students, accompanied by their Science teachers performed the Corn Flour and Water Experiment.
When water is added to corn flour a ‘Non-Newtonian’ liquid mixture is obtained. This liquid has special properties, in that it solidifies when pressure is applied and liquefies when pressure is released. This is because within the mixture, molecules change their arrangement upon exertion of pressure.
The students enjoyed every minute preparing and experimenting with this peculiar fluid.
