Gozo Cultural Outing
This year some of the poems covered in Maltese are about the different landscapes and villages found in Gozo. On Monday 18th March, all Senior 2 students spent a day in Gozo. We left school as early as possible to make it on time for the 9 o’clock Gozo Ghannel Boat to Mġarr. Upon arrival we headed straight to Rabat to visit the Citadel. We started off with a 3D film at the Visitors’ Centre featuring the history of the Citadel.
Following this short film students were split up in four groups and through rotation they all visited the Old Prison, the Gran Castello Folklore Museum, the Nature Museum and the Archeology Museum. We ended our visit at the Gunpowder Magazine, the Grain Silos, WWII shelters and the Battery. This was such an amazing cross-curricular experience, especially since the majority of students had not visited the sites before.
Finally we headed to Dwejra. On our way from San Lawrenz we saw the Fungus Rock, the remains of the Azure Window and the Dwejra Tower. The girls were treated to an ice cream and here we had some free time to enjoy each other’s company. Time flew by quickly and we had to take the boat back to Cirkewwa. Tired but extremely happy, the day’s experience was a memorable one for all the girls.
