First Aid Session at Hangout Club

Demonstrating the correct method for handling casualties while giving First Aid was the subject of the Hang Out Session held on Friday 7th February. This session was led by Ms. Elizabeth Dimech Ghirxi and Mr Franco Camilleri. The students learnt the importance of giving the correct First Aid, starting from the DR rule. The DR rule states that any first aider must first assess Danger and then provide the correct Response. Ms. Dimech Ghirxi demonstrated various techniques for the correct handling and positioning of casualties. She also  emphasized the importance of  calling the emergency number 112 to report accurately the number/condition of causalities, the situation at present, location and consequently giving the correct handover when help arrives. The students were able to put into practice what they had observed during this session by practicing with a buddy, as can be seen in the photographs.
