Emerging Technologies – Familiarisation

Students in Senior 2 at St. Joseph School Sliema participated in an event entitled “Emerging Technologies Familiarisation for girls aged 12 – 14”. The event was co-ordinated by two of the school’s teachers of Computer Studies, Mr Franco Camilleri and Ms Jael Cassar together with Ms Anamaria Magri Pantea from AscendConsulting.EU. Certificates of participation were given to all students. Below are testimonials from two participants:

 

‘On the 17th of October, along with the rest of Senior 2 students, I took part in the ‘Emerging Technologies’ seminar. It was an interesting experience as a number of IT specialists spoke to us about various career opportunities possible in this technological field. Although the world of computing is considered to be male dominated, this seminar made us realise otherwise and gave us opportunities for hands-on experience. In an age where technology is evolving fast, it is important that we become aware of devices that are useful in our day to day lives, explore them and make good use of them!’

‘Last Monday 17th October, all Senior 2 students were given the opportunity to take part in a seminar which focused on ‘Emerging Technologies’. It was a learning experience for us. We were given information about the Internet of Things, new technologies and how they are used today. We also had the chance to learn about VR and try it out ourselves. We all had such a fun time learning and improving our knowledge about technology whilst discovering the amazing possibilities of different devices.’
