The Eco-Schools Programme
“Eco-Schools is a fundamental initiative which encourages young people to engage in their environment by allowing them the opportunity to actively protect it.
Through this programme, young people experience a sense of achievement at being able to have a say in the environmental management policies of their schools, ultimately steering them towards certification and the prestige which comes with being awarded a Green Flag.
The Eco-Schools programme is an ideal way for schools to embark on a meaningful path towards improving the environment in both the school and the local community while at the same time having a life-long positive impact on the lives of young people, their families, school staff and local authorities.”

The Eco-Schools Programme at our School
The school community at St. Joseph School Sliema has been actively participating in the Eco-Schools programme since 2006. This programme is co-ordinated by Nature Trust – FEE Malta (https://www.naturetrustmalta.org/). Our school has been awarded the Green Flag four consecutive times. It is indeed an honour for our school to be part of this world wide initiative. The school is proud to have a hard-working team made up of different individuals, including students, teachers, maintenance staff and members of SMT.
The Eco-Schools programme empowers our students to engage with the wider community in order to increase environmental awareness, engage in a sustainable way of life thus improving the environment around them.
