An Afternoon of Kite Making at San Anton Palace

On Tuesday the 8th of May, two of our teaching staff participated in a kite making workshop hosted by the President’s Foundation for the Well Being of Society, and the China Cultural Centre.

The workshop was led by Mr Guo Hongli, a specialist in the creation and design of Wiefang traditional kites. Mr Hongli has travelled the world giving lectures and demonstrations on Chinese kite culture, kite craftsmanship and kite flying performance.

During the workshop, Ms Alison Portelli Shaw and Ms Marika Soler, designed a panel for a kite which will be displayed during the Kite Festival held on Friday the 11th of May at the Verdala Palace in Buskett. The design features a pattern which was inspired by traditional Maltese tiles.
